I am going to have to start selling some stuff because i NEED this lens!! And there is that rumor of the $200 canon rebate staring tomorrow gives more urgency.

Better start selling FAST !

Since these vendors usually jack the prices up a few days after the rebates are in effect.

To get an extra 3% on top of Canon's rebate sign up with Mr. Rebate (www.mrrebate.com (external link)) and order from Adorama or any participating vendor.

silverfox funny you make this statement. I read that Canon rumor site about the rebates and read there would be a double rebate if you buy the 1D4 and the 70-200 2.8. So, I checked Adorama and B&H and noticed they raised the 1D4 price by $200 so if the rebate rumor is true then you are not really getting a rebate, just pacified. I noticed this same pattern in the past, too. Damn shisters.

Ladies and gentleman, the rumors are true! I checked beach camera and the the price listed for the lens is 2174 which is 200 less than the regular price....I guess I will be returning mine and will buy again in order to take advantage of the deal.

I remember back in December this lens was down to $1900 on Amazon. I wish I had the money back then to buy it.

Man, I wish I was in the market back then. Oh well can't win them all. At lease I got my 500 for way less than what they are selling for now.

Well you definitely picked some good ones ;) The hardest part about owning some of the best equipment is that if the photos don't come out great, the can only blame the photographer. I'm facing that reality now and if I take a bad shot, it's definitely my fault.

Agreed, but I'm the type that would much rather have good gear and know if I keep learning I'll be okay, than to think I know what I'm doing and wonder if the equipment is holding me back. Now I know, it's definitely me. :o

Just checked Amazon and even they just raised the 7D price up $70.00 to $1549 for the body in anticipation of the forthcoming rebate.

It was & has been $1479 for quite awhile until late this evening !

The 60D was $886 this morning & now Amazon has raised it only 3 Bucks to $888.00 Body only. So in the morning if the rebates are in effect folks interested in the 60D might actually get an almost full $100 rebate.

It amazes me how these vendors must think consumers are ignorant to their scams !

Here is the one that really makes you puke ! Beach Camera suggests your receiving a 25% savings from a retail price of $2900.00 !

http://www.beachcamera.com ….aspx?sku=CN70200USMLISII (external link)

Canon has NEVER listed the retail estimated price at $2900.00 ! Canon has it listed for $2499.00 here below on their main site:

IMO Beach Camera has Utterly Pathectic Marketing !
