All the vendors are doing the same exact thing, Amazon included.

The price of the 60D was $888 yesterday and it is still $888 this morning since they jacked the listed price up to match the $100.00 rebate.

They are all guilty of Scam marketing IMO. But nothing out of the ordinary since these vendors think your ignorant.

Regards, ;)

Amazon's price is 1,457 and Adorama's is 1,479. So not, it's not every retailer.

Just checked on Amazon, and while they are out of stock, you can get one that ships from Adorama for $1479 w/ free shipping. I'd say that if you want one, I'd order it today, as I imagine the price will go up.

I was looking on Calumet last night and the price was $1529-200=$1329 for a 7D body. Now it's up to $1499 AFTER rebate...LOL

I feel bad for those poor souls thinking they are getting a good deal...from any dealer (not just Calumet).

B&H price now went to $1699 before rebate so actual price is now $1499. Still higher than yesterday's regular price. Oh well, they didn't get my business today.

Still available on Amazon for $1499 from Beach and Adorama. Didn't see anything about a rebate though.

/edit Just checked Beach and Adorama, $1499 is the after-rebate price. Bunch of greedy bastards.

The funny thing about all this is that Canon's "rebate" program is indeed real. It's just a rebate for the sellers, not the customers. And in this context, the seller gets to enjoy the rebate over and over and over......

I was awake when everyone was reporting that. I figured they would adjust the price, and cancel any previous orders at the super-low price.

I agree that the whole rebate thing was confusing, and that it didn't make the camera much cheaper. I did like the bonus rebate on the 24-70 2.4L, though. Adorama's website wasn't showing the correct price when bundled, so I called them and they told me that when you buy both the 7D and the 24-70 2.8L the price is $2578 or something like that. I wanted both, so it seemed like a good idea.

It's Canon's fault. I have no idea what the markup is on these cameras, but lets say they cost $1300 from Canon. They can be a "nice" guy and take the regular market price of ~1475 from last week and make 175 bucks. Or they can play the rebate game and mark the price up to $1699 of which Canon pays $200 of it for the customer. So $175 or $400 profit - tough choice.

And as was mentioned above, there is a minimum price you can sell the item for and still get the rebate, so it's not like they can give you the camera for $1300 and just take the rebate as profit.
