Sister-in-law, her family & the MIL are all fine but struggling to get to the sister-in-laws house in Sumner due to roading damage. Lucky escape again for them, haven't seen anything from Lyttelton yet.

He is working from what was left of him home after the last one, in the Brooklands swamp area. His wife is a nurse.

Chris just rang, he got out of his building as it collapsed against the building next to it.

Hes been helping where he can, but has now been asked to leave the area as the rescue teams move in.

Thats good to hear. I've managed to get hold of brother 2, so all my family is now accounted for. Still trying to reach 3-4 close friends.

MarkB tried ringing - I hope you are alright. Gosh, it isn't looking good... Had a chat with my customers... they are alright... but have a long night ahead...

You guys in Christchurch are in our thoughts and prayers.

Text Messages are the more reliable way of getting through, as the phone networks are overloaded, but texts are getting through reasonably well.

Just heart wrenching watching it on the news.
Best wishes to all the folks down there.

Cheers, Paul.
If it moves, shoot it. If it shoots back, get a bigger lens.

Evening All - holly hell what a day.....
my work is totally wasted inside and it tried to take me with me.... ;(

But got out with a couple of scrapes and knocks. Lots of other people not so lucky (people dying all around us and not much we can do) ... my family ok and glad to hear that the other chch's are ok here.

gonna be a rocky night here.....

RIP to the poor unfortunate people that did not make it. And keep fighting to those who are still trapped.
