Would you buy a used DSLR from E-Bay or Craigslist?

Just wondering how "safe" you'd feel buying a used DSLR from either e-Bay or Craigslist?

Or would you rather just stick with P.O.T.N. & FM?

What difference does it make?
You're still buying it second-hand and surely ebay would offer more buyer protection (45 days to open a dispute that you're 99% likely to win).

Me like most people advertise on forums/ebay/craiglist so it's essentially the same.

Selling on the other hand I much prefer forums/craiglist as PayPal gift / Bank Transfer means once I receive the money, the buyer can't pull a fast one.

eBay - NO WAY! I am even scared to sell something like a camera on eBay because of the increase in number of jerks lurking there.

Craig's List - Big maybe. It must be local and I would have an opportunity to check it.

Much rather buy a refurb through Canon's CLP or a good retailer like Adorama. Better still just bite the bullet and get a new one.

I have bought/sold on CL though I tend to stay local. Never had an issue yet.

I prefer to deal on Craigslist--The chance of deception or fraud are minimized by a face to face cash transaction.

I have bought/sold several items locally on Craigslist, both photography related and non. I bought my Rebel XT off eBay last summer. I got a pretty good price on it and a nice starter kit. It was the cheapest place I could find one (small markets are not good for buying on CL). I had such a good experience, and I decided that I really wanted to pursue photography more seriously, so I ended up upgrading to a T2i through Canon's refurb store. Amazon used marketplace is another place I have looked at. I have sold a few things on there, but haven't bought anything there yet.

I have bought used and refurbished from adorama 4 times now and it was great, the refurb cameras were like new and had less than 2000. clicks on them.

I'd much rather buy on POTN than either of those places. For some reason--possibly unwarranted ones--I feel safe buying here.

CL would be ok, but only local.

EBay - no way.

I bought my 5D MKII from craigs, but would definitely meet up in person and test it out.
