house all ok - no further damage from this one - it was a bit further away . family all ok - no one hurt - just a little shook up

Cool, Fiony's just been talking to her sister in Sumner; going to be a long commute in & out of there for a while.

Roading/bridge destroyed so its Evans Pass/Summit Road for a while.

Pleased that your fine. Ready to move yet?

But got out with a couple of scrapes and knocks. Lots of other people not so lucky (people dying all around us and not much we can do) ... my family ok and glad to hear that the other chch's are ok here.

I have a cousin who lives here in Europe, he and his wife where visiting N.Z. at the moment.
I heard that the wife was scared of visiting ChCh as she was worried about another earthquake. They went in yesterday! Don't know if they got back home

Have heard back from Mark - they're ok mostly too.. way worse than last time he says... apprently news is not showing half of it :/ residential is pretty bad

We're OK but our house is pretty much destroyed. Luckily I have a cousin to house us. We're heading back over today to clean up and grab more of our stuff.

Never thought I'd be so grateful that the airlines put such stringent limits on our luggage! At least we don't have a lot of stuff to recover.

All the best Geoff. My brother's family there are in a similar case to you, but have a lifetime of stuff to sort. However, with emphasis on the word "life"...a whole lot of mess seems somewhat trivial under the circumstances, doesn't it!

Me too. .... it seems so wrong to be spending on luxuries while others don't have the basic necessities of life.

I don't know anyone in CHCH personally, but I am mourning.... deeply.

Yesterday txts and phone calls were flying around our family.
I have a brother,sister, uncle and neice living in Christchurch. Fortunately all are well.
Brothers and uncles houses are both alright. Sisters house will likely have to be demolished, currently unlivable apart maybe the garage. Neice is at Canty uni,but flatting, not sure what is happening there yet.
Last time my neice stayed with my sister until the hostels were okayed.
This time my sister and her husband will likely stay for a while with my brother, neice may end up there as well. Early times.

What I love about Kiwis is the way you pull together in a crisis. I'm amazed that people in Wellington are opening their homes to utter strangers.

This is a really really tough time. But we'll get through it. And I am sooooooo grateful for all the people who are busting their butts to save lives.
