Based on a simple question, i think i 'did' ask if someone would be kind enough to make me a simple graphic watermark. Firstly there is prob quite a few free softwares to make them but I have no notion to on how to make them, and secondly if your time is soo valuable maybe you should be doing something more productive than sitting online and picking points with other peoples posts.

I don't think there's any need to get defensive. What he was saying is that with such a broad brief as "can someone make me a watermark" how would anyone know where to start? There's no mention of required size/colour/font/style/graphics and so on etc.

For someone to be able to genuinely help, the very least you could do is give a hint of the sort of thing you are looking for, or even link to styles of watermark that you have seen and would like something in a similar style.

When I first saw your original post, I didn't reply because I thought your request was too vague, and in his own way, that's what elogical was trying to say. If you had posted and said, "I've seen this watermark (giving example) and would like something similar for my own pictures, but my graphic skills aren't up to scratch, can anyone help?" might have gone down a bit better than "Can anyone make me a watermark?"

you have to give friendliness to receive it. you might at least make an effort to make a watermark rather than trying to have someone do all the work for you. and as everyone else has said, there are requirements like what program you are using and what type of watermark. watermarks don't grow on trees so if you want someone to put some effort into work for you, maybe you should offer something in return like money.

edit: sorry, i did see the bit about photoshop.

You didn't want to spend time on it but you expect others to do it for you. For free? The more time and information you provide on what you want, the closer you'll be and more likely you'll receive what you're after.

And this IS one of the most friendly and helpful forums around. But that's a 2 way street as well.

So just asking a question makes me a bad guy? A question, by the way, that doesn't ask you for your time and effort for free and I'm the bad guy.

Does this answer your question.

This forum is indeed a friendly place, but I'm afraid you approach things with totally the wrong attitude.

@Conor McDonald

Here's a tip for you to get more help here and in real life: when asking for help, especially free help, at least show some effort in trying to do it yourself first. No one likes a leecher/user. If you had at least posted some of your attempts, and then link to some that show your goal, then plenty of people would have jumped in to help.

When I first read the thread, I moved on because, well, frankly, you didn't show that you even attempted it yourself.

Post some of your attempts, show us what you hoped to achieve by linking to examples, and we'll be glad to help.
