You did a great job choosing these frames to show peak action. That poor section is gonna get destroyed in #1! I'd love to be wearing boardshorts right about now too..
Thanks for sharing

You've captured the action well. Why with a 20D when your sig has a 7D?

Great shots, but the surfer is making a mistake: He's looking where he is or where he's been. If you notice most pro surfers, their eyes and head are already looking toward the next move (kind of like chess). That's what makes them pros.

Thank you. bw!

Yea, him and a lot (most) others have issues. I know editors in the major mags hate seeing subjects look anywhere other than where they are going next. I guess some are just looking to see if they filled the bucket or not. :)

Bought the 7D since I shot these. Got a new housing for it also. Looking forward to two trips this year. Cabo in June & Nicaragua in August. Stoked!

Thanks everyone

It's not so bad to look at your move, but what happens is that the surfer, if not prepared, makes a bad landing.

A better way to think about it is to look at skateboarding. You won't ever see a guy watching what he's doing or where he's been. The consequences are just to painful. He has to be focused on the landing and transition. In surfing you can get away with a sloppy or botched landing. It's only water (usually).

Thank you. bw!

What housing are you using for your 7D?

Nice!! Is the rig heavy w/ the 16-35? And is that a focus arm for video on the front of port (bottom right)?

Can't wait to see your stuff!

Heavy? .... to some it may very well be. I personally dont think so. ...but some on here complain about weight with some gear that seems light to me. I work in the chemical industry turning big valves and carrying heavy things, often .... so I guess my hands are a little stronger than most. I'm not going to lie though ... after a few sessions surfing, fatigue does eventually set in. Its just time to grab a beer and call it a day at that point. :D

The little gear in the front is for zoom.

Thanks..... If you have time, try searching for "Bombsight Photography" on Flickr. There are a lot of shots of El Salvador there taken with the 7D & Essex housing.
