I would like to finally participate in this thread. I recently finished going through all of parts one and two of the Bees thread and I have seen some really cool stuff and learned a lot. Somewhere during the middle, I purchased a yellow AB800, 86" Silver PLM, CST, and a used CST/CSRB pair.

This shot was with the AB800 reflected from my PLM on the left and a 430ex shooting through an ebay softbox on the right. For the heck of it, we tried a silver reflector tilted a bit from underneath but I don't think it did much. Still, it shows up as catch light. This was more like a test shoot but I enjoyed the results and PP-ed it.

Edit: First time using strobes/bees, C&C appreciated.

Hey all! So I had a shoot last night and when setting up by AB1600, I realized the test would not flash! Ended up having to do the shoot with just my 2 AB800's and a 580exii. I emailed PCB last night to see if theres anything that can be done or if it needs to be replaced.

The AB powers on and modeling light only lights up if I turn off the cycle button. Test button does nothing. Tested it with AC power, VBII, with/without radio triggers/sync cord- nothing. Anything know if theres any secret "reset button" or does it sound like the unit is dead?

The AB1600 is only 2 months old and have only used it on 2 shoots thus far. I asked PCB that if the unit had to be replaced if there was anyway to pay the different for an einstein and be placed on the backorder list. Anyone know if they'd be able to do that? Thanks!

Update: PCB didn't said it sounds like my B1600 is defective. They gave me the option of getting a replacement or returning it and placing an order for an Einstein. I was just outside of the 60 days and still gave me the option. I think I will be going for the Einstein this time to go with my B800s. PCB CS truly goes above and beyond!

Nice Chris! How long ago did you order your Einstein? One of my Ab1600s recently crapped out so I placed and order for 2 Einsteins yesterday. Now for the looong wait! Got a big shoot April 2nd and I doubt they will come in by then. :/

I ordered it at the end of January and they gave me an estimate at the end of March but to my surprise, I got the call last week confirming my order and that they were shipping it out. I think they're catch up on those quicker than the VB mini's. I'm not sure if you'll get it in time for your big shoot though.

So I got my Einstein in today and first thing I notice is that there's no frosted dome. I was under the impression that it came with them but I guess I was wrong. Next thing I notice is that now that I'm unpacking everything (I was in the process of moving) I ordered a month ago, my HOBD didn't come with a sock so I'm gonna call them tomorrow to get that cleared up. Lastly, this is my first chance to really play around with the CC and man is it overwhelming. It's like looking at a DSLR all over again haha.

Haha never mind, setup was pretty easy but it didn't give the option for the Einstein for the spec light.
