I started with 28-135 kit lens and was amazed how good it suited my needs. I could not imagine how one would live without 135 mm.
Then I switched to 17-55 and gave 28-135 to someone else. 17 to 55 is all I need ! Ever !

Then I swapped the lens for 24-70 and really liked the range, especially near 70mm where it worked well on my 40D for portraits.

A few month ago I got a 10-22 and it does not want to leave the camera, The majority of shots are taken with it.

Go figure !

I think each of us has their own best focal range. Glad you found yours.

10-22? Even for Head-and-shoulders portraits? Really ;)

28-300 on a FF is very usable. It helps build your biceps and triceps too! =)

Most useable focal range ? 10-400. Should come with a constant 1.8 (would settle for 2.8 as a last resort), sharp throughout the range, and no more than $900. ;)

Seriously though, every time I buy a new lens I use it extensively for a few months, then come back to my trusty 17-50.

If it's on the body I will use it. Anything between 50-200 I can shoot portraits with. Anything below that I can shoot landscape with...

Lately the 50mm havent left the 5d though. Most likely because I haven't really shot anything for a couple of days now. Man I need some inspiration.
