It varies... If AF does not work properly (ie the lens is 'hunting') I'll switch to MF.

Equipment: EOS40d + BG, EOS 350d +BG, 10-22 USM, 100mm F2.8 macro, 50mm F1.8, 70-300 IS USM and 18-55 IS.

An additional tip when using AF is "finding" contrast for the focus to lock onto. Better tank lighting helps too!

Nice planted tank there. I'm going to be setting up my 10g and 20g as planted tanks again. Should have my new lights here this week. Just waiting for my 75g to get done cycling and getting stable so I can finish moving over most of the fish from my 20g.

This is my 90x45x45cm tank. I took this for an entry into the ADA International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest. I used two 150w studio lights above on either side plus the 150w metal halide above the tank

wow - this is a great thread... I got a fish tank about a year ago a small office sized one, I have a few Marble Hatchets, some Glowlight Tetras - but my favourite residents are the inverts - I have several varities of Shrimps the biggest are my Bamboo Shrimps...

they have grown really quickly and seem to thrive...

and when they shed their exo-skeletons it makes for more pics!

We have been keeping tropicals for about 4 years now. We have a 240L tank and a 90L tank. Not the best pictures in the world as they were taken before i had a good sort out in there.

My major regret in my 240L tank was getting Silver Dollars... damn fish have ruined all of my plants and i have to restock regularly. It is more than just being hungry for them as the actively destroy my plants in there then chase each other around with the leaves!

Didn't have the right kit for this, so a little noisy...but pleased with them, really. :)
