Ok, I got to shoot a 5DII this past weekend.

I hate it when that happens -- you see the results, pull it up 100% in post, and, ZAP, you gotta have one.

I will resist. For a while. I hope.

I once held a 300mm f2.8 IS L - I went from "I might want that but its expensive" to "You know I really don't need both my kidneys - I gotta have that lens though!"

Tools of the trade: Canon 400D, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS, Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70mm f2.4, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, Raynox DCR 250, loads of teleconverters and a flashy thingy too

Luckily no. I've used stuff from 1-series cameras to 500mm f/4's and never felt the need to go buy it. Actually in the case of the 1-series it reaffirmed that I didn't want or need it.

I did use a 200 f/2 that I'd love to buy... just can't imagine when I'd use it.

I've suffered this. I have a 7D and an 85L I don't really need, as a result of borrowing a friend's gear.
I think I'm going to let them go, before it's too late :D

Most of the things I want I don't even have to touch first, I just have to look at it.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Touched a 7D in Jan and got one last week after spending the past 3 months reading about it. My buddy was telling me my 15months T1i is still fine for my skill level. Still not sure what to do. It arrived on Friday and is still in the box! Should I use it or return it????

Giving people the option to vote for multiple options in a poll is quite possibly the worst choice that can be made on the internet if you're looking for useful results.

On topic, almost all of my purchases have been made without using the piece of gear beforehand or even holding one in my hand

If you want it and can afford it, then get it. Personally, I don't give a s**t what others buy :)
