Need the last push...

I have the Benro C2691T with B1 ballhead about to purchase but just want to make sure it's a right fit.

Supporting info:
Mounting a 7D, 24-105L, 580exII. For now will have a 70-200 down the road. Mainly used indoors for family, parties. With the ability to travel (upcoming Hawaii trip). I think this may be a little bit much but I'm a fan of buying something once. I read so much about tripods here on potn and the web that can drive an insane person to becoming sane again.

Do it or not?
Planing to get it via eBay (cheapest place according to potn).

Do you happen to know it's max load? I can't find it online.

Edit: Found it. It's 26.2 lbs and the head can hold 26.4. I don't know about the Benro line, but assuming their products are good quality (based on price) that is more than enough to support your gear. I've definitely bought the wrong tripod before and I regretted it instantly. It's awesome to be able to trust that my gear is safe now.

So far I'm going to pull the trigger tonight. Gonna set me back like $375ish. I got to check out it out at the camera shop and seems quite nice. And your right max load is 26lbs.

Heres a link to a thread on ball heads and I have commented on Benro products.
https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1007514

I have used Benro products for over 3 years with 100% satisfaction! I have a compact carbon leg set with a size 0 head that I got on ebay back then. I just got a b-3 with 54mm ball a couple weeks ago to use on an old set of 3221 legs and it is awesome too. Lots will bash Benro, but I cannot afford $400 ballheads and Gitzo legs and I am not disapointed at all with the benro products I use!

Just when I was about to pull the trigger, I get a call from a buddy telling me to check out feisol- traveler series CT 3441T. Shorter folded up and lighter by nearly 1.5 lbs. Geez finding the right is giving me a headache.

Thanks a ton, Jay & Peter! My friend that called was agphotography. He has several post in the 3441t thread and check out his setup. But based along on the review and support I see that feisol is the winner. Now to decide on the reg legs or the ARL.

Get the ARL, I think Feisol charges more for that which is a pity but it is well worth it. Also BTW I don't think the C2691T was the best choice from the Benro line-up for a couple reasons; it's a 5-section tripod and also a "transformer". Generally monopods from tripods are too short to be really useful and a 5-section leg is one section too many IMHO. I use 4-section leg tripods but really a 3-section is the optimal design for rigidity.

Also to be honest I think that post #23 I highlighted in the Feisol thread is a real concern. I have both a Benro C2680T and a Gitzo 1541T and the hardware involved in the way the legs are attached to the spider is virtually identical, right down to the brass washers. Also the collar where the leg goes in on the Benro is as long as the Gitzo collar, and there's a big screw down into the top of the Benro leg section, much bigger than the Gitzo screw. My sense of the Benro after several months ownership is good design and quality manufacture with close tolerances. My sample at least is a really good product.

For any of you who've read my review of the Feisol 3441t, I really think a lot of this tripod, and was disturbed as any of us to read post 23 above. I emailed Kerry at Reallybigcameras, and got a superb email back explaining the nature of the problem described in #23.

He also detailed the solid aluminum billets used to make Feisol parts rather than the cast parts in Gitzo products.

He doesn't like to step into our threads here very often, because, though a member of the Forum, he obviously has a bias. I therefore did not want to ask him for permission to post his email to me, but I think anyone concerned about post #23 should write him at ales@reallybigcameras.com (external link) and let him explain the details as he did for me.

Many people think very highly of this tripod Jay. The illustrations in post #23 were originally in either the FM forum or Nikonians, I don't remember which. If there's a good engineering explanation I think it should be published as those pictures have had wide distribution and aren't doing Feisol any good. I for one would be interested in reading it.

I would like to read as well since I'm REALLY on the fence between the feisol 3441s and the benro c2680t. I nearly hit the confirm to buy button on eBay last night for the benro but got stopped by my crying baby. (might have been a sign..haha). I have also emails Kerry but I still haven't received a response since Thursday afternoon. By chance Jay could you PM me what Kerry mentioned?
