Yes Justin, you have. You did it with this post.

The rule;
is found in the penultimate paragraph of the Forum Rules of Use.

This rule is taken seriously. Violating in can result in disciplinary action up to and including a permanent ban.

Just to be clear I don't disagree with the forum rules and i am not discussing the forum rules. I was merely answering a question, which was just my own opinion of what happened. I didn't single anyone out, and i certainly didn't get personal which is what happened to me.

If i have done something wrong i would rather be PM'd about it rather than accused of being some kind of person on a public forum.

No it's for me strobes "on-location".

I'm sick of waiting for PCB's VB-Mini, and nobody has blazed the trail, so to speak, finding a suitable (240v) current-limiting inverter here :(

Couple of things wrong with that Seimens unit, Firstly, not sure if it would be able to work with TWO RX600 strobes, and secondly, I'm only licenced to certify on these engines ..............

Oh well you didn't tell me you'd need to power TWO of those things! I think You're gonna need one of these http://www.mhi.co.jp/atom/hq/atome_e/apwr/ (external link) for that.
But in all seriousness I'd rather use a battery (like maybe the tronix(?), that way you'd be okay for indoor stuff too...

and everyone keeps getting banned... great... we're not complaining about the rules, just about constantly getting told that if we do we'll get banned, I think, and the fact everyone is getting banned doesn't help us much either, or well me at least. also, what rules did the photo that seems to have mysteriously disappeared break?? Just so I know what to not do outside of complaining about rules and trying to sell stuff in order to avoid being banned...

Well, for starters, we usually give a warning. If a Mod tells you, either via PM or in public, not to do something, it's probably a VERY STUPID idea to argue with him. Guaranteed, he knows the rules, and their intent, better than you do. And don't try editorializing on what you see as heavy-handed moderation.

Angus' post closing POTNAC 9 was left in place so everyone could see just the kind of stupid thing that can get you in trouble. We've also left some examples of near-misses in place (where we could, and normally would, have banned the members in question), such as the post sequence that got POTNAC 10 closed. One of the concerned parties later apologized for a post that was wide open to misinterpretation.

Remember - POTNAC isn't the exclusive preserve of the active participants in the thread(s). GOOGLE actively searches POTN and can index a post within minutes. Pekka is very concerned that posts in POTN not draw the wrong kind of attention (one of the reasons for some of the "banned" words). Careless posting and taking the piss can do just that. It's our job to help keep it from happening. We can do that better, and more unobtrusively, with your cooperation. And remember that there's a big difference between being brash and being obnoxious, though there can be a very fine line between the two. Obnoxious will get you into trouble. You're on the world stage here; behave accordingly.

This place is dead, destroyed by powertrippers and their enablers.

Taking the piss is part of Australian culture - it belongs in any Australian environment. Anyone who can't handle it denigrates Australian culture.

You call that an opinion? This is an opinion. While those of of who reside on the POTNAC couch in The Lounge may understand and appreciate the spirit and quality of a decent piss-take, the people who run this site do not.

Perhaps we should have a piss-take warning. EG. [pisstake]you call that a WARNING[/pisstake]

That being said, taking the piss out of the moderators is prob, erm, definitely a bad move.

Then they can PM the mods too?

This continuation of public bickering with the mods is precisely what's driving POTNAC into absolute oblivion. Guys, I know many of you are feeling pretty disillusioned over this. But let's drop the victim mentality and think pragmatically for a minute: exactly how is fighting with the mods in the public domain in this manner helpful? Unlike nation-state governments whose power rests on legitimacy in the eyes of their subjects, whose disenchantment could possibly result in the overthrow of such regimes, this place is a privately-owned place ran by Pekka. It doesn't matter how unfair, unethical, fascist or whatever we may think of the behaviour of the moderator cohort, we have to play by the rules if we want to be here - and most importantly, we don't have to be here if we don't want to!

As far as I'm aware (someone correct me on this), there are just two things we can't do: break the no-thread sale rule, or talk about moderator decisions in public? That's not too difficult is it?! We've all derived much knowledge and new friendships from POTNAC, and it would be such a terrible shame for it to go down like this.

Well said Col, but I still don't agree with "The Mankini" in any shape or form.

Agreed. The Rules are simple, clear and straight-forward.

Be civil to each other.
Be aware of the nature of what you post.
Be aware that posting Nikon threads may cause offense (substitute Nikon for any undesirable topic).
Flaming is something that will harm the flamer more than the flameee (counter-intuitive, I know)
Being offensive just marks you as a troll.
Take some time to consider the comments of others. Should you disagree, everyone will think more of you if you take more than thirty seconds to respond.
This is a forum. A place where thoughts, ideas and concepts are shared. If your response is likely to be censored, perhaps you should re-consider your response.
If you consider a post to be inconsiderate, provocative or obstructive, post once to explain your case, after that, PM a moderator. It's their job to oversee this forum, not yours.

I will take my own advice now, and STFU.
