Funny how so many of you are so paranoid when standing out in a crowd, yet would "flower up" your equipment just to stand out.

Does nothing for me...but whatever floats your boat.

I don't recall anyone in this thread saying they don't like to stand out in a crowd but do want to "flower up" their equipment. Seems like just an assumption to me. I don't mind standing out, personally. You will notice that with some of the shirts I wear to events when I shoot. Nothing out of this world but like I said earlier, it's just a way for people to express themselves. Some do it through art, clothing, or even their hobbies. This is one of those examples.

There are so many threads posted here about the big white lenses standing out and photographers getting "harrassed" by on lookers who ask questions. Either those photographers are a total different breed, or they want it both ways.

the popular answers are:

too much money
not enough brains

Do you mind sharing exactly how you applied it using the blow dryer? If there is a video even better.

Also, do you have a photo to show what it looks like on the end where the edges of the vinyl meet up?

i went to youtube and watched a few videos before i started. there are many, here are a few ..

Thanks. I saw that first video but wasn't sure if they used the same 3M material of if it was their own product. I hear different vinyls behave differently.

Would ebay be a good source to purchase the vinyl? I found some, a 1' x 4' sheet for about $30 shipped. Just not sure if it's a good deal or what.

Wow, after watching the April Fool's bicycle video I had always figured that realistic-looking carbon fiber wrap was just a concept for a joke.

At Decalsfx (external link) they have all kinds of precut decals as well as sheets. I'd like to add carbon graphite surfaces to a few ironic places around the house. How about a carbon graphite toilet seat? Or, better yet, a carbon fiber beer mug for backpacking!

We have a couple of birthday parties coming up and I'd love to think up a funny gift using carbon fiber wrap. Maybe a carbon fiber pooper-scooper.

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

I went to their site and ordered some samples of the black, blue and red 3d CF vinyl. I may just go with a color other than black if it looks good in person. If I do, let the hating begin... lol
