Yeah I am having trouble to get mine to work.
The guy at the shop I bought it from recommended this one
http://www.samlexamerica.com …ption.asp?ProductsID=4000 (external link)
It works for a couple of flashes and then it shuts down. I am trying to get an alien bee 800 to work.
doesn't go past 1/32nd power

I ordered two of the Vagabond Minis on 2/24, received them yesterday. Just about 3 weeks... I think these will be a great compliment, and possibly even replace my full size VII :)

Wow, I wonder why in the heck my VB Mini that I ordered Jan 12th took until March 15th to get to me?!

My guess is that they received a ton of them back in stock in late February (I was being pretty persistent on checking in with them every week or so), and it was enough to send out for backorders, etc? I don't think they play favorites, even though, somehow, every time I turn around, I've got something else PCB in the studio.

Ok so I grew tired of the wait for Vagabond II's to get off of back order and the 3-4 week wait for the mini is not for me! So I decided to go the DIY route also! Yesterday I ordered an APS600 600 watt inverter, a sealed lead acid 12v 20ah battery, and a westward 5RXE9 4 stage 10A/2A Intelligent Battery charger.
The charger and battery and other small bits arrived today (got love Grainger Industrial supply!)
So now Im waiting for the inverter , and in the mean while trying to source a suitable case for it all. I didn't expect the charger to be so large and have so much cable on it (12 feet) , im thinking a traditional style tool box but will have to wait until the inverter gets here before I finalize that. and the weight so far is : battery 14lbs
charger 2lbs
inverter 8lbs
Id hope to have it at 20-25lbs all done , so that it will hold down light stands and such. pics soon to follow.

Hmm, I ordered 2/23 and still waiting. Wonder if its because you ordered 2? Just called PCB and said it should be shipping out this week if not next week. Really hoping to have it before a shoot on Apr 2nd!

thought this was a thread for cheaper Alternatives to PCB's Vagabond, I subscribed and keep hearing about VB mini's, I think PCB forum would be a great place to ask who got what when. I want to lean how to build or buy cheaper alternatives to to the Vagabond.

So far Samlex is what I am hearing, anyone else build/buy one that works as good or better than the Vagabond for less money. Since they are always out, I am in the same boat of needing to build one, however I need it to do 3000-4000WS as my speedo pack are big. I have 400 and 800ws packs too but I want to run the big stuff in the field too.

Just watch the Classifieds forum, Vagabonds pop up there all the time and you can probably pick on up there before they come back in stock online.
