Photographers were the farthest thing from the minds of those creating those knives. As a side note, they have limited edition Halos that fetch $3000+ and sell out in minutes.

But, yeah, go with a SAK. Bag space is at a premium anyway, why not get a knife that can do about 450 different things?

Whenever I see a switchblade, I think of "The Outsiders" from way back...

A Gerber LMF ii is always in my bag. Never know when a large, sharp fixed blade knife with a 'skull crusher' butt might be needed

I have about a dozen knives(Couple benchmades, couple Spydercos, some Kershaws and a few others) I rotate out on a regular basis and NEVER leave home without one.

I have never been a big fan of the "swiss army" style knives(Victorianox, Wegner, etc) as they just do not hold up to abuse. I'm VERY hard on my knives and have broken half a dozen of those styles over the last 15-20 years. The leatherman style multi-tools are much better suited if you need a pocketable tool box.

My current two favorites are my Benchmade Griptilian and Kershaw Leek. The Griptilian is a stout knife and has a very usable 3.5 inch straight edge blade that accepts and keeps an edge like a razor. I've had this knife for about 4 years know and try as I might, I have not been able to kill it yet. One of the best and most durable knives available under 100 bucks, IMO.

Second favorite would be my Kershaw Leek(designed by Ken Onion). Fantastic knife and with the open assist, it is VERY quick and easy to operate. Again, this blade holds an edge that you can shave with. Only complaint about it is that the tip of the blade is a bit weak. I have snapped the tip off twice with regular use but Kershaw has always given me a brand new one, no questions asked both times.

Typically I have a multi-tool with me. I have a few different ones around. I also have some folding utility knives that are really useful. They even make a mini version that's good for a keychain.

I recommend a Swiss Army knife as well. I have a Swiss Mini inside my bag and on my keychain at all times.

Swiss Army and an RJ Martin Q36.

Check out the ESEE Izula. It's a small (guaranteed for life) fixed-blade, that can be had for about $50 (US).
I clip mine onto the shoulder strap D-ring of my Lowepro Primus pack, for instant access.

Kershaw Scallion.

~$30 - so WHEN (not if) you loose it, you won't cry.
Easy single handed open close.
holds a good edge.
not too big, but big enough - not gonna scare anyone with it.

I recommend removing the safety as it can be sticky at inopportune times. (very easy - just take out a screw). I don't the version with serrations (true of any knife) - can't sharpen.

I have a couple. One is always on me.

I almost got one of these, but I have no real need for it, I just enjoy knives.

imo, spyderco makes some awesome blades in all price ranges.
