How could you possibly not think that was a good deal? It's been out less than 6 months with an MSRP of almost $300 more than that.

Body only retail price direct from Canon has been $999.00 since day 1 release.

That $854 Gold Box Amazon price was BODY only ! ;)

Actually, it was $1099. $999 was the $100 price drop that came a couple months later.

$854 for the body is a STEAL, you should be more excited.

I know... im wondering what the 5d mkII's will drop down too at the end of the year. Im thinking it would be a great addition as it shares the same AF as the 60d. Or is it the same as a rebel with only 1 cross point?

50D/60D - 9 cross-point

A main criticism of the 5D II is its AF system but if it had the 50D/60D AF system ... and burst speed - it would be called a 5D MKII 1/2

Might have been recently posted but i just noticed the 60D body only has jumped up to its retail price of $999.00 :

http://www.amazon.com …TF8&qid=1300850392&sr=8-2 (external link)

Glad i picked mine up over a month ago in my Amazon Gold Box for $854 which even then i didnt think was that good of a deal.

Regards, ;)

Literally happened when I was going to proceed to checkout on Monday night. All of these photos make we wonder if I should just get the package from Best Buy or wait until another price drop. Hoping to join the fun soon!

Nah, just grab one now, and be done with it. You'll forget about the price as soon as you start reviewing your pics with the new camera!:D:D

So im assuming that the 5d mkII shared the same af as the 60d. I know it doesnt have the burst speed, heck even with sports pbotography I use single shot in AI servo as I strobe everything.
