Im still trying to figure out Ryan strong gets his lighting so even with 580exII on camera direct flash.... you got any ideas?

(also your flickr is awesome too. Your are one of the guys who inspire me to learn constantly. second question were do you get a Jinbei RD1200 & YN560?)

you might be overthinking things
it's probably just zoomed to 24mm?

i got the jinbei from the studio outfitters in singapore, and the yn560 i bought from the yongnuo ebay store

another one of the same model

@ Ed... now you have profoto?

i used the profoto once in L.A. on the beach, that thing was light weight for 600 watts.. but the battery thingy was weird.. small battery to slide into a much larger box.. weird design i thought..

nice lighting on her

Things are not always what they seem all that grass would have fit in half of my bedroom. :) I am learning to think small.

My first post:

Shot in full sun at 2pm in beautifull Antwerp Belgium.

Sun was high with nasty hard light. Tried to overpower the sun and creating my own lighting in this photo.

Iso 50 and 2 stop ND filter, sync speed of 1/400 (hypersync using pw's, normal Xsync is 1/250) and f11 was needed keep the sunlight down.

Used one strobe: Ranger RX at full power (1100Ws) with a 30° grid.

Any modifiers besides the grid? Nice work overpowering the sun.

nah, it was forced upon me... still prefer ranger RX for location stuff, it's just built so much better than profoto.
