Any talk of a 7D replacement soon?

I was just about to pull the trigger on the 7D, but then I noticed it was released in 2009. I don't want to buy it if there is a 7D Mk II or a 6D or something around the corner.

Has there been any rumors?

It seems like the 7D is about due for an upgrade but I'm speculating that all the issues Japan is dealing with at the moment is going to cause delays in all their upcoming releases. I would not expect to see any new 7D replacement for months.

Just buy it, you can wait forever and ever for something new and there is still no guarantee it will be kickass. It may suck for all we know now. Buy it, you won't regret it.

A more imminent concern might be that the price of the 7D will start to rise as supply dwindles. Just a quick peak at pricegrabber shows that it's already several hundred $ more than when I bought mine a few weeks after it was released.

I haven't followed the price of it very closely. What is considered a good deal?

I found the kit for $1750 and I figure I can sell the kit lens for $200 or so, making it about $1550.

There are a lot of slightly used ones rolling around on the boards. You can pick one up inc a grip for under $1500 now. Just an idea, and with that you won't have to worry about selling the kit lens.

My thoughts exactly.. I wouldn't expect any major product announcements for a while. In fact, I'd get the 7D now in case there are inventory shortages.

Holy S !!! has the price of the 7D jumped!!!. I got it the day before Canon rebates for $1649 with the 28 to 135IS. I then sold the lens for $300.

you'll have to buy from bestbuy until they run out of stock. This Japan mess will affect alot of tech prices and supply for a long while.

I will also be going after a 7D in the near future once I ditch my current setup.

It's kind of how the T3i was rolled out.
They already had it spot on with the T2i, but refined and added little features on the T3i.

The 7D's already a incredible camera.
If adding an articulating screen on the next 7D is what Canon calls "major", then I'm sure the 7Ds' would share the same relationship as the Rebels stated above.

Anybody have a copy of the rebate form pdf? I may go ahead and buy the 7D and send in the rebate anyway. Worst they can do is deny the rebate.

Usually Canon's rebate is instant meaning that the stores already knock down the price. This is usually the case for their bi-annual rebate program.
