I almost jumped on a used Canon 17-55 f/2.8 until I found this thread. Saving myself $400 and being able to grab a brand new lens is looking like a much better option.

really noob question I know but what do you use/how do you get such a nice white background that really makes the subject stand out?

On topic, I really like the look of this lens. I know a guy who has one and cannot fault it in anyway :)

This is really a great lens. It's not a perfect one but it's really versatile :)

Hi,

Has anyone tried VC version on EOS 300D? Will it work just as good as with more recent EOS models?

Thanks!

I do not have access to my archives right awy, so will look them up and post if I find something useful. Have to ask though:

1. What camera are you planning to use the lens on?
2. What purpose are you planning to use that 28-mm focal length for?

in another thread.

Here's how I do it...ad-hoc style. I have a used projector screen I bought off Craigslist for $20. Set the object on the screen. Use my Speedlite 430EXII to bounce off the ceiling. F8, 1/125 (or close to that), ISO 400 on my 30D. I bounce with enough light to overexpose and blow out the white backround while giving the subject correct exposure.

This works pretty well for me as long as the object is small enough where I can place the angle of the camera in such a way that I don't have any of the backround in the room showing.

No post processing other than resize + crop:
