workerdone I am not convinced yet though hehe... I use the GF's MBP sometimes and for some reason I just like windows better... I love how I could fiddle with windows and to be honest once I am done setting up I rarely have problems with windows as well...

Windows 7 is just sweet... hehe

my choice was MBP...then I woke up and build a desktop pc instead hehe

Just got my new RRS plate in this week...

Glad to see RRS has put safety stop screws into these things at last.

I bought my mbp so i could use logic pro and final cut, but with the added bonus of absolutely flawless drivers for all my external gear. Using my equipment (especially firewire gear) on my W7 box was a game of guessing when the driver would crash...

Bob_A... powerconfig doesn't seem to work..

I get this message
'powerconfig.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

'cause I made a typo. It's powercfg.exe

Sorry

You can turn off hibernate using the control panel, it'll probably be under power options.

14-24, 50G, 105 VR macro, 70-300 VR. They're all nice and come with hoods and bags. Wanted the 85G but it's out of stock everywhere apparently.

Nice! I would really love to give that 14-24 and 105 macro a try.

I went through all of the power options and couldn't find a way to do it in Win 7 that would get rid of the hiberfil.sys file, which is why I went the other route.

Agree. Although because of the front element design on the 14-24 I know it's not the right lens for me. I've had the 16-35 f/4 and 17-35 f/2.8 in my wishlist at B&H for two years now :)

So....thoughts on Nikon....it's killing me that I've been working 14 hour days ever since my D700 arrived so I haven't been able to shoot much, but...

This is what you get (50G, iso800, f1.4) when you hand it in full auto 51 point AF mode in dim fluorescent lamplight to someone who just frames and mashes the shutter button:

The person using your camera has pretty steady hands and the subject was also pretty still. I can't usually get that good a result at 1/30s.

We all know you still dream of a MBP with quad core in it which you would take every where with you;)

Before I got a quad core I thought it would answer all the processing problems I had. It doesn't answer any of them, as most of the time Win7 is only using one of the cores, swapping programs in and out, while the other three cores stand idle. Video and music stutter as badly as they did with a low power dual core machine.

I get my new Mac today.
