Never thought of that before. Pretty ingenious.

btw the 1dsmkIII LCD really awful.. even 50D has better LCD..

Well duh! It's the same LCD as those on the 40D and XSI :p
With all the hype and rumors about a 5D mk3 I personally believe that Canon will release a 1Ds MkIV before releasing a new 5D. That rumor is just as exciting as the 24-70L IS rumor which has been going on for at least three years now

 I know it wasn't level, it kept slipping off, no matter how long I tinkered with it for!

Still, the result wasn't too bad, even if I did nearly fall over in running through snow from the tree to get on the bench before it fired:

Although the Rebels (and 60D) are plastic bodies they have metal subframes (steel I believe) so they're still plenty strong. As for that photo, it's probably just the result of a fall, if I remember rightly the photog actually landed on the gear.

yes but that metal subframe does not extend to the mount. I had a 70-200 2.8 on my XS, was picking it up by the body instead of the lens and it did put a little bit of a dent into the mount.

Do you have any links to back that up?

Not that I don't believe you, I'm just really curious as to why they wouldn't extend that metal frame into the mount ?!.
