It is an amazing lens. My fourth L-lens and it really blew me away. I had also my doubts due to its reputation, which is so-so. I did a lot research on the web, discussed it on several forums and also talked to several professional dealers. Finally I decided to invest the money. And I am so happy with it. I am using this lens 90 percent of my time spent on photography.

All this negative talk about the 50L's reputation was the reason I waited so long to purchase the lens. I'm so happy I finally went out and purchased the lens, it's FABULOUS! I love the look the lens provides and I have no problem using it wide open. As a matter of fact this pic I just took was wide open.

Cute photo ^^ Also my thought. I am looking for a good mid range prime L lens and this is my first choice. Hopefully i get it in two weeks time. Been contemplating the last few days which lens to get, I'm sold by this thread.

Look up Jasmine Star. Beautiful photographer and during one of her videos, you can see her using the 50L exclusively.

I just got mine yesterday and have been playing around with it. I am going out tonight to give it some more test runs. I love the focal length, I just need it to prove to my why it is better than my 50mm f1.4.
