I also received an opened lens from amazon. The lens cap was off and the lens wasn't clean. Also the lens had a front focusing issue. I returned it and received a perfect focusing new one a few days later.

It sad that they could be passing a returned miss focusing lens as new ones.

Amazon customer service is amazing I ordered a samyang 14mm and didn't like the distortion so I returned it. However the ups guy didn't pick it up and some random delivery company that also works for amazon did. Anyways the lens never found it's way back but amazon after a quick call still refunded me my money!

Lol what?
Did it have a ups prepaid label on it? Sounds like someone just drove up your driveway and stole it.

Amazon Prime is horrible....

Empties my bank account faster than anything.

If you think Amazon Prime empties your bank account quickly, sign up for One-Click Ordering. Hyperdrive!

I refuse to fall for that trick... I need that slower multi-click process so I can hem-and haw away!

The guy worked for cal trace and he said oh I'll make sure it gets back to amazon. I was kinda confused but was like okay here ya go. He's probably off shooting landscapes now.

It's not the same as an item sold by Amazon but it's protected under the A-Z guarantee, of course you have to deal with the seller to fix the situation, refer to this.

I still recommend buying from Amazon because their customer service is simply spectacular. If you don't want to speak to someone for some reason, you can simply use online text chat.
Two years ago, I never received a lens that USPS claimed to have delivered so Amazon just sent me another without any issue.
Last week, tracking showed my lens as delivered even though it obviously was not. Hopped on chat, rep told me to wait until the next day and if I didn't get it by then I could simply contact Amazon again and they'll ship another one out to me and just as a nice gesture, gave me $20 worth of credit. At around 9pm that day, the delivery guy comes around and delivers the package. Obviously the tracking was incorrect...stupid OnTrac.

I've used amazon for camera and other electronic purchases for probably over 10 years now and it’s been nothing but positive experiences.

One recent return I had was a 16-35 I bought that had a defect in the focusing ring. They sent me a paid shipping label and shipped me a replacement lens before I even had the return in the mail.

Amazon has been wonderful with the products "THEY SELL".
If product is shipping from another sources (you will see this on their product page), experience have not been so wonderful. I only buy from Amazon when they have product in stock.

In regards to "their packing problem". Many product that "Amazon ship", are really shipped by non-Amazon warehouse. I once received a BIG outer box which looked like it got hit by delivery truck, run over, then kicked by driver - but my notebook P/S (puny box) was snugly inside box and safe :)
