Thanks for the info, guys! I am now the very proud and excited owner of a Canon EOS 1D Mk II. And so far, I love it! Hearing the shutter fire away at 8.5 fps makes me smile and laugh like a giddy little school girl (but for coming from an XTi, what do you expect me to do?). So far there is absolutely NO comparison between the two bodies. The 1D Mk II feels like a tank in my hands, and the XTi felt like a toy. In the words of Will Smith in the film "Men In Black"...

"...I feel like I'm going to break this damn thing."

^ And that's how it was with the Rebel. It's going to take a read of the software manual before I get the hang of the controls, but overall I could not be happier with this camera. But then again, coming from a Rebel XTi (which was the very first DSLR I ever owned) how could I not be?

Cheers, Gerald III

I'm looking to buy a MK II N. If anyone knows of one for sale in the U.S., keep me in mind.

KEH has several listed right now.

Thats precisely what I did, and it helped greatly. My XTi was silver *gAsP* and it didn't really go with my black lenses or the black grip.

It's actually in the EOS Utility Camera Settings/Remote Shooting function (D'oh) under a menu that I never used with my XTi because I never had a reason to use it. Which is why I was rather confused as to where to find the feature at first

After I am done experimenting with this somewhat confusing (at least to me it is) concept with HAMSTTR/Shoot to The Right, I should have some images to share from the 1D Mk II. But good lord, this "shoot to the right" thing is confusing. o_O

Certainly, shooting to the right is valid concept, and one you would do well to understand. It's worth reading up on and getting your head around it. Here is a good place to start:

....once you start playing with it, be sure you get to a point that you understand it's pretty easy to go too far to the right, and end up with blown highlights. It's a balancing act over there on the right !

Hmm...that was surprisingly easier than I thought. I think I've got the hang of it now. :)

And now... to go take some more photos (that arent test pics of random junk around the house ).

Nope. I sold my 50D for a 1D2n and; even though every now and then I think of selling it because I miss modern features, the image quality is so spectacular that I can't ever let go of it.

Same here. Traded my 50D for a 1DII and don't regret it at all. The only thing I miss is the screen and only having to press one button to change things, but you get so much more with the 1D that it didn't bother me at all.

At fist i hated the 2 touch system how nothing could be done with a sigle button but now i like it and it makes sence to me so in pro situations where the camera is getting swung around and lens swaps and frantic times like weddings nothing gets swapped out or accidently bumped

It did take some getting used to, but I don't really mind it at all now.
