KEH has several listed.

KEH has them without batteries and stuff. I'm lookin in the 800-900 range. One just sold on FM in really good condition for $850 with 56k on it and 3 batteries with all the original stuff too...I want one of those deals before I go to KEH.

I got mine on here with 2 batteries, charger, box with the manuals and everything, new shutter with 7k clicks on it (supposedly) and I traded my 50D for it. It's in great condition too, just two small scratches on the bottom right. I'd definitely watch on here and FM before going to KEH or other used stores.

Yeah, that's my plan. I really could care less about the condition the body is in, just as long as the shutter count isn't too high (less than 75k)

I've bought a lot of stuff from KEH, and I can say this: the trick is to watch them continuously...at least everyday, and be ready to click, add to cart, when you see a deal. Every now and then....and I don't know what their strategy is....perhaps it is they get too much inventory in a given "class" or something, but occasionally they blow some things out at some cheaper prices. You just have to be ready and jump on it.
For sure, the charger is an expensive item if you have to buy it after the fact, so be aware of it when buying one of these cameras.
And too, as GuitarFreak points out, keep your eyes peeled here and over at FM....some deals come up. As always, you gotta be ready to jump, because if it really is a good deal, somebody is going to be all over it in a hurry. Good luck with it....and if you have not shot with one of these bodies, you are in for a treat. They are a heck of a machine.

EDIT: I see you mentioning shutter count. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Honestly, without sending to Canon service, you have no way of verifying for certain what the count is. It doesn't mean much anyway. Some shutters die early, some seem to go on and on. Does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason to when they die. Use it in good health....and fix it if it breaks !

Got mine from KEH with a canon battery and charger for $700 in bargain condition. It's looks new with paint worn in the pinky resting area of the grip. I watched every day until I purchased. Couldn't be happier.

The advise to make sure the charger comes with it is important. KEH will sell the body alone for only about $50-$70 cheaper. The charger is worth MUCH more than that.

Yes, the charger will set you back up to $150. I hope to buying mine this week. I will not buy without battery and charger.

Actually, a factory Canon charger is $340 from B&H. So yeah.....it's a point to keep in mind.

One of my Mk2 bodies was only $415 from KEH....but, it was "ugly" ( I think it looks good ! LOL )....and it came without charger or battery.

Also, because of the Ni-MH batteries the 1D2 uses, you might need to get a new one depending on the wear of the batteries you get. I ended up getting a Lenmar battery to replace the one that came with mine as it didn't hold a charge very well at all. A new battery will only run you about $30 or so, and the Lenmar one I got is absolutely fantastic. I've gone about 1800 shots before having to recharge it.

Yep, I been reading up on that as well. I have already budgeted for a new battery anyways. I always like to have a spare ready to go in case the first fails

I've downloaded and installed the program from here:
http://www.photo-freeware.net/zoombrowser-ex.php (external link)
Then updated using this updater:
http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0039668.asp (external link)
That got me a working version of Zoombrowser Ex. But you need a firewire to change personal functions (and I presume EXIF data).

I hooked up the camera to my PC via firewire, turned on the camera, then opened zoombrowser, hit the "connect to camera" button but I keep getting an error message saying that the camera is not connected. Any suggestions?

No joke, they were stomping on the Nikon shooter. Captured with the 1D2 and 24-105 f/4L. Man I love this combo. I don't think I missed focus a single time.

I used the USB side of things if I want to change settings. Under wins 7 the fire wire talks direct but slower than a card reader.

Can you use the USB to change settings on Windows 7? I'll have to try it!
