I tend to give up before the equipment does ... :)

It secretly doubles the megapixels of his 5D...

Shhh, canon doesnt want that to get out

No sorry - doesn´t work that way.

I hope that the green tape halves the risk that my camera gets stolen.
Not sure if such things work - but I have no disadvantage.

On a night time photo tour with others one ask about the tape. I said I suppose that a thief probably rather take his neat looking cheap Pentax than my crappy looking EOS 5D :-)

Even "better":
EOS Rebel XT / 350D with modified flash housing - sawed the under part away for better tilt and bellows handling.
And some useless tape.
And to stay with lens pictures: Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 DIY tilt

IMAGE: http://www.4photos.de/camera-diy/EOS-Crop+DIY-Tilt.jpg

I know I am a bit crazy :-)
In contrast to 95% of hobby photographers I don´t care about good looking equipment.

Had this lens for nearly a decade before finally selling it for $125 (with matching hood & canon bag) just this week:

That's a great little lens, isn't it? I don't really have any complaints about it. Great build quality considering its price too.

I loved it! It was a touch soft, but I took well over 30,000 shots through that lens spanning from my Elan 7e, to EOS 300d, to T2i, and then to my 5d. I will say, the softness became an issue for me on the T2i and 5d. I wanted something a little sharper and a touch faster so I replaced this lens with the Tamron 28-75 which I'm happy with thus far. Though, the old canon autofocused much more quickly and quietly than the Tamron. Good solid technology, and the person who I sold it to is going to love it. Even though I've seen some cheaper, I think he got a great deal on some good glass :)

Nice! Once you go L you never go back! I'm saving up for my next L, hopefully the 24-70.

Exactly most bodies can handle some elements, get out and shoot. You should know your limits

Exactly.

I was shooting football this past saturday in the rain and had no issues with my gear. Just know its limits and dont take unnecessary risks.
