No the firewire port is only for changing settings. The usb port is for off loading pictures etc. This has been talked about a billion times in this thread. My problem with everything is finding a computer that has win xp that has a firewire port. All my computers has been upgraded to win7 long ago which Canon has no.drivers for. It's a bummer but, how often do you change the personal functions in your camera.

One more. And yeah, the wedding shooter was using a kit lens on his Nikon. I just happened to be attending with my gear.

And this is what I shot. Don't be too harsh on me, I'm not done editing it. I literally had 2 minutes to setup my lights, and get good shots before they left for the honeymoon. The Nikon photographer asked me to shoot all the indoor shots because he didn't have any lighting equipment or a low light lens.

Bah spent an age trying to change my personal functions but can't figure it out. I've got the computer recognising the camera when connected and DPP and Zoombrowser EX but can't for the life of me find how to do it. Canon don't go for the intuitive software do they?

I don't know if this goes for every OS or computer format, but I used EOS Utility -> Camera Settings/Remote Shooting. I hooked up the Mk II via FIrewire, EOS Utility started automatically, and I went to remote shooting. In the remote shooting window, I clicked the wrench and hammer icon in the lower right hand corner. This opened a drop down menu, and the last item in this menu was "Personal Functions." Hope this helped both of you :)

I used OS X to do this, btw, as my PC doesn't have a firewire port (I'll have to look into getting a firewire PCI E card).

Cheers, Gerald III

Guys I have both my Original 1Ds and the 1D Mark II running first on a xp,Vista and now Windows 7 so
Just jumping in and saying it's not working helps no one. so please take a little time to give more details of your computers what operating system and if it is 32 or 64bit and what error messages you get if any. I might be able to help or another might but it helps when you take the time to explain your problems.

I use only 32bit windows but I would like to use 64bit but until company's truly support it I'll wait.;)
But to answer your question there is a feature in XP,Vista and 7 called compatibility mode it works .
Use it to install in "XP w/sp3" because I only use the Xp driver not the vista one .
I done this with at least 3 different computers 2 home-built and an 1 HP model. plus on two different laptops and it has always work for me.:D

Really? I tried doing that when I first got the driver and it didn't work. Might only work on 32 bit.

I'd sure like to know why MS is still pushing 64bit so hard when it still doesn't work with most of the older hardware out there. I had the option of getting Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit when I bought my new laptop. I didn't want any issues so I picked 32 bit. I'm still tempted to throw Linux on there though.

Can't wait to join you guys.

GuitarFreak Now you know why I wont use 64bit my friend who is an it guy thinks it is ready and I told him it's not unless that person is very knowledgeable about working with software or a very advance user not the typical consumer who want's it to just run. GuitarFreak And I also forgot to add that I also go into the canon folders and do the same for the .exe as well

CameraMan I like linux also but the same problem as I stated above for most people.;)
