Got hired to take some photos for a former member of Parliament starting his own jazz/funk band. His first show was at a small venue in Providence called The Spot Underground. I had never been there, so I googled it, and the pictures looked like there was decent lighting.

When I got there, it was almost completely dark. Very dim lit room with couches, christmas lights, and some stage lighting. I was like "Ohhh crap, this is going to be rough". I ended up using my trusty Sigma 30 1.4, which I just recently re-purchased after having seller's remorse. All of these were at high ISO's as well (3200+)

To make matters worse, he was moving around a LOT on stage, so I needed my shutter speed a little higher than usual (1/250+)

1. f1.6, 1/250, ISO 3200

Welcome to the club Malakite! Looks like you got a great copy of this lens. If you like the "Bokeh" you are going to love this lens :) It's a great piece of fast glass for it's price range...

A whole series on my website:

http://www.dvdpimages.com/s110402.php (external link)

Somehow it seems like my 30mm is always spot on at any focus point but the centre one, at which there appears to be a slight backfocus. Handheld though, so no more than a suspicion. Maybe I just shoot better with a side focus point ;)

Your thoughts?

I have owned this lens for a while now and there is just something about it and the focus and bokeh that I dont like when shooting from a distance. i have been getting more winners with my nifty. I might just have to send it in to get checked on.

Beautiful shot 00dahc, love the colour and detail. :)

On a side note, you might want to shrink the longest side to 1024, so as to keep within the picture posting rules of POTN. Just a friendly reminder......Hope to see more great shots like this though. ;)

Went to a 1920's themed prohibition party. Used this lens entirely. To go along with the theme, I edited some of the photos to give them a more "old-timey" look.
EDIT: I did something to my website and the locations of all the photos got changed. Re-adding them, but I don't know if they are the same imges I originally posted.
