That's all I have right now. Shift in focus from sports to shooting people / portraits; small town USA downtown shooting; festivals, events, etc.

Honestly, I miss my 70-200 f/2.8L dearly. Also not adept at quick draw lens changes either! Having only primes kind of forces you to plan your shoot in advance and choose gear wisely and correctly to get the job done.

What I didn't like about zoom lenses (other than the 70-200) was that they didn't seem to provide the same image quality from end-to-end and across different apertures. Could be 'perception' more than reality, but I seemed to notice this with my 24-70mm lens.

I have zooms too, but I tend to use my 50 1.8, my 100 2.8 or my 200 2.8 way more often than the others. The only zoom i use is my 11-16 because of its width. If i had a 35mm and maybe something around 14mm I could do away with zooms without a problem

I shoot mostly primes.
Reasons:
Can't afford quality zoom lenses.
My EOS450D only goes to ISO1600, and when I'm shooting a band during a gig I realy need the apertures that primes offer.

I shoot with both. I prefer shooting with primes for the superior image quality and the shallowness of the DOF. However, I have quality zooms (16-35mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm 2.8 IS) that I like to use for their versatility, width (16mm), and reach (200mm).

All primes for the Canon--but I would love a 10-22. Might even take one of those new 70-200s...

I'm all primes too. Mostly for the apertures & image quality, and ability to shoot in all available light. I also shoot a lot of people, so I like the smaller discreet sizes. It's hard to be discreet with a huge white 70-200, though possible. I worked with all zooms for a while and slowly made the switch. The zooms were great, I actually find the restricting nature of primes pushes me to be more creative.

Right now I only have two lenses, the Sigma 10-20 2.5 and the Canon 50 1.4..Im definitely leaning towards the prime end though.

The 10-20 will probably be my last zoom. Something about the image quality of a prime is just mesmerizing.

I'm another prime only shooter. You can see my list. I shoot musical performers in very low light and need the very wide apertures that primes offer. I'm not against zooms lenses. I used to own a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8. It's a nice lens, but I found not being able to go wider than f/2.8 very limiting. Plus, it was easier to get sharp images with the primes. I did enjoy using the Tammy as a walk-around lens. It was way easier to frame things. However, when I needed some money for a trip to Colorado last September, it was expendable and so I sold it.

I do plan to own the 24-70 f/2.8 L when I can get the bucks together. I do wish there were zooms that could do f/1.8.
