Get the proper hood for the 18-55mm to avoid vignetting at wide focal lengths. Nice simple setup though, although if it were me I'd go for some sort of 70-300mm instead of the 80-200mm.

Looks like it was taken with a Nikon kit lens at high ISO. CA is visible and some obvious pincushion distortion. :p

I was going to say, if that's from a kit lens then it's performed a lot better than my ol' piece of **** would've.

That's one thing about Nikons I love. Automatic chromatic aberration removal. Do any Canons have this feature?

Yeh its the standard 18-55 VR lens that comes with the D3100 as a kit, she also got the 55-300 VR..i have to admit i was pleasantly surprised with it....

Both lenses are pretty nice, I could compare them to the 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS if i wanted to as well (My dad has a T1i and those two lenses)

We got some ridiculous hail the other day in Orange County, so I had to run outside in the dark and take pictures.

This was not long after it started:

In the end we got about an inch, which is pretty amazing considering it never, ever snows here although we do get very light hail about once a year.
