There are no photos for this lens in the archives.

Anyone use this lens and have photos?

I googled some reviews. Didn't find any photos from this lens. However the reviews are awful mixed, some love it and some hate it.

Maybe you already learned something about that lens.

What could I learn from 50/50 reviews?

Some like it and some don't.

The reviews claim this to be a good portrait lens.

I just want to see some photos from it, and was hoping some members here might have used it.

I grabbed one a while back and almost threw it out the window when I tried it on my XTi.
Settled on a 17-50 non-VC. love it.

Recently I got a 50D and just 'had' to try that lens again... not worth a cow pie when I put it on.
BUT @ -20 on the micro adjustment, looks decent. I have not played with it much, but will keep it around now.
Maybe if I get better at the micro adjust it will actually be nice, or now that it has hope maybe I'll send it in for a tune-up.

anyone looking for a slightly used 28-105?

not much help I know... Good luck.
Jeff

Built-in soft focus effect.

Yup.
Another thing to mention is the AF is S-L-O-W.... think molasas in February...

What do you want and what is your budget?
What are you trying to accomplish? Different focal length (you already have the 28-135 IS)? faster lens (2.8)?

Also, I have lived off of my 50/1.4 for a while, great portrait lens on the crops...

Oh I don't need the tamron, just seemed interesting.
I figured if the reviews were good then I'd buy it.
But if the members on this forum hate it, then I'm not about to buy it.

I'm just going to stick with my 50mm 1.4, and maybe buy a 85mm 1.8 in the near future. Might sell my 28-135, and got the 75-300 on ebay right now...

I shoot mainly portraits, seniors and engagements.
So I don't NEED more than I have at the moment.

Only thing I really want is the 85mm, and new camera....

I wanted more reach than the 85. as sweet as that lens is, I went with the 100/2.
Thought 85mm was too close to the 50. (plus I was using a 17-85 then too)

Keep an eye on the Canon Loyalty thread... the 50D is a nice deal right now.

try a few different ones.. you can usually unload them for what you put in (if used - except the tamron 28-105  )

Enjoy!

I may very well keep my Canon 28-135, it produces some nice images!

And yes I really like the 50D and true it's selling pretty darn affordable at the moment.
