I'm thinking about picking up a 7D. Canon direct has a refurbished body for $1300ish. It only comes with a 90 day warranty.

Has anyone had experience purchasing refurbished digital cameras from canon direct?

Im curious of the condition the camera is in, scratches, dings, etc? Would you consider buying a 7D from there or should I just bite the bullet and purchase a new one?

Yes, my 7d. It's great. They are also the cameras they sell you through their loyalty program.

Buy a cheap broken canon camera and use the Canon Loyalty Program to knock the price down to 1087 plus tax. Here's the catch, they are out of 7d bodies right now.

Yup! I bought a 50D. Outside of the shutter count, I wouldn't have known that it wasn't brand new. I've spoken with several folks on this forum who have taken advantage of the Canon Direct site, and, to give you further incentive, investigate their Canon Loyalty Program. If you've got a DOA point/shoot, even a dead DSLR, they'll take it in trade, and save you 20%!

Consensus of opinions I've seen here is that it's hard to go wrong buying a refurb!

Regards!
Don

My 550D is only a couple weeks old. Looks and acts brand new. Canon performed flawlessly and I'm very satisfied with the experience.

I bought mine through CLP. It had to go back but was repired in less than a week. I also purchased a 3 year Mack warranty from Adorama for $129 including accidental damage. I just wasn't comfortable with 90 days but that is a personal decison.

Happy Shopping!
