The Canon 75-300mm remains a useful lens at a good price, especially for those who have a limited budget. Others will recommend equipment that costs more, but you'll find that even lenses that cost thousands of dollars have their detractors in this forum.

Is the another sort of all purpose tele for under $500 ($300 would be even better) that you'd recommend over this?

Apr 14, 2011 08:54 | #11 I just asked a similar question here asking between the 70-300 IS USM and the 55-250 IS - I went with the 250 and so far it has been great. With the IS and decent optics (LD glass element) you won't miss those 50mm at all. The 75-300 is not a great lens. Cameras: 7D2, S100
