I need some advice as to how to transport a 42x72 reflector on a plane. It folds down to 24'' which is still too wide to fit into my large suitcase. Other than having to tote this thing around as a carry on, what can I do?

Buy a bigger suitcase? Leave it home and rent one when you get where you're going. Carry it on and hope they don't hassle you.

Buy a bigger suitcase? This was my 1st thought. But it's hard to find something with a 24'' width. Plus, having to pay 200-300 bucks for a new suitcase is something I'd like to avoid if at all possible.

Leave it home and rent one when you get where you're going. Unfortunately, that is not an option.

Carry it on and hope they don't hassle you. I wish, but since I'd already have 2 carry ons, no way that's happening.

I'm actually wondering if I can fold this thing down smaller somehow, to make it fit in my suitcase. I don't want to break the thing, but I'm going to see if I can get the rings to fold in a few inches smaller.
