I received my new T3i and EF 100mm macro yesterday, and plan on taking it out this afternoon to play with the combo in the sunshine. I was excited to see that nearly all of my SX10 equipment worked with this combo also (all filters, closeup lenses, and 430 EXII).
Now I'm looking at getting a short zoom and a long zoom lens. I'm looking at the 24-105mm f/4L IS USM (walkaround lens) and maybe a 100-300 or similar for birds and distant wildlife. Any comments or recommendations would be great. I mostly shoot nature photography (I don't shoot a whole lot of portraits).
Though the lower cost of the non-"L" lenses is appealing, I am willing to pay the extra money for an L if the justification is there. I've bought plenty of mediocre things in the past, only to be disappointed later and then ending up selling it for a loss and buying the higher-priced version after all!
So far I've been very happy with my purchase. This is my first SLR, and I had been holding out for a long time because I wanted to see a flip-out LCD and video capability, both of which the T3i offers.
