I'm currently running through whether or not I should go with the 1.8 over the 1.4 (I'd have to wait on this one to save up). The price is just so good on the 1.8 ii and the pics I've seen on this forum just look awesome.

Haha I know. I was doing some late night editing and somehow didn't notice, but I thought I'd just keep it without re-uploading. :)

no need to convince. simply the best $100 you can spend for a lens setup. professional or amateur.

tack sharp, but shooting at 1.8 has mediocre quality. best at 2.0 up

but its the best youll get at anything even close to the price. 1.4 is another $300+ from any other brand. so unless you have the cash for that extra shallow depth and clarity. youll be stuck with the 1.8

this question all comes down to your budget and how much you are willing to spend.

There are no rules for a good photograph and there are no excuses for a bad one.

Don't forget that quality is also determined by the camera, if you have a decent camera you should be okay:)

60D! I can't afford to "go big" on L glass and have been looking for something a little lighter and bigger aperture for indoors.

More out of curiosity, but why do you only plan on using it at 1.8?

Let's just say if my ISO went high enough and the noise wasn't bad, I wouldn't use a flash at all.

if you have a choice, wait and save for the Sigmalux - been using it for a couple of days and it blows the plastic fantastic out of the water, blazing fast AF, Silent operation and Amazing Bokeh :D
