Found this poor fella in my back yard just now. Can someone identify what type of bird this is?

I hope so too. I eventually had to borrow my neighbor's ladder and managed to put him back in its nest. As I climbed up the ladder the mother flew away immediately and I could see 2 other birds that are in the nest. I'm assuming they are babies too since they didn't fly out to avoid me, but they look about 6 times the size of the one in the picture.

It's a baby dove of some sort. Mourning dove most likely.

A squab of some sort. There must be a nest close-by, find it and try to return it there.
