So I can see the screen from wherever I want while pressing the remote shutter release...

Not seeing this as an advantage for portraits.

Often times my camera is not at eye level when it is on the tripod.......... but I dont use live view.

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.

Improved AF, IQ and ISO are all I'm looking for.

I'll take a few extra MPs and I can take or leave the swivel screen.

I'd also love to see a new 24-105 as a kit lens, but the current one is plenty good if they keep it around.

could you explain this a little more please. I'm not sure I understand

http://www.bhphotovideo.com …uper_Precision_Matte.html (external link)

with fast glass you can get the "what you see is what you get" when your shooting with this screen. You see the dof your shooting. For prime shooters its a great inexpensive screen that also helps manual focusers.

The 7D is crippled with the non replaceable screen. That alone is a serious backward movement IMO. Live view is a great tool but canon should keep the super precision option for a 5dmk3.

How often does that happen? Don't think I've ever found myself in that situation.

bemerick wrote in post #12339594 (external link)
good idea. but also agree that that would probably not happen very often.

Not happen very often? Excuse me! lol I'd use this probably at least 50%-75% of the the time if not more. A swivel out screen would greatly benefit landscape shooters like myself.

If they give it the 7d's AF system.. I'll be selling off some lenses and the 7d and I'll be buying one directly.

So is the lack of a interchangeable focusing screen a result of the 7D AF system?

I was kind of shocked to read that it lacks interchangeability. Even my lowly 550D has that feature. :p

I saw a manual focus screen on a 50D a few months ago and I was impressed. If I used manual focus all the time it would be a plus.

I kinda wasn't a believer in the super precision screen. I bought it for my 5dmk2 and now my 17-40L looks rather dark but otherwise I usually shoot primes or f/2.8 zooms. WYSWYG is so nice.

Since Canon is pushing video on all their cameras, adding articulating screen will only make it more attractive. Every camera after 60D have a articulating screen ...even Nikon put one in their D5100
I hate to laying on the ground for low angel shot

Good point. A HUGE number of 5d2 sales are from guys using it for video. Just peep over on DVinfo.net or vimeo....

In fact I would guess that they possibly outnumber the people using it for photos. Which may be why they are so hard to find and pricey.

I totaly agree that AF, articulating screen, betther ISO are what is to be expected.

But I also thinkt that the new 5d will be very much video oriented. I guess that they are working hard to improve autofocus on the video... But mybe they even lounch it with some special video gear.. like a Grip designed for video, vireless transfer for video to an external screen... who knows. I would love to see some suprices...

I think that the source for speculation on the new 5D is not only the 1D series, but also the better video gear out there. What would canon put into 5d that are only found in video cameras worth 5 000 and upwards.

Living in Austria, I am so glad that there is stuff like Gimp out there...
I am a happy giver, so if you find any misspelling in my text, you can keep them... :)

I hope they keep perspective with the next model what ever it maybe. Not over doing the MPs and no swivel screen just to much to go wrong. Working on what it take to achieve a better still capture, because that's what it is all about. Too many bells and whistles is over kill.

That's my 2 cents!

Personally speaking, I wish Camera Mfr's would stick to keeping a "camera" a camera. If the user wants to shoot video, get a quality video camera.

I have only used the video function on my T2i 3 times and to be honest, it was mainly to capture the audio from the Australian V8 Supercars, Carrerra Cup GT3 cars and F1 cars when I was at the Australian F1 race.

While I may be in the minority here in terms of video in a DSLR, I think it adds undo cost and complexity to the camera!
