why should he contact the seller? its UPS that lost the package, I would keep calling UPS to get an update on the package.

Seller has way more leverage with shipper using their rep. I had "undeliverable" stuff delivered by getting my rep involved. If it's lost - seller will have to file insurance claim - buyer can't do it.

No matter who's fault it is, I know how frustrating it is waiting for a package and there is a problem....

If anyone has a clue about camera equipment then its very obvoius when it comes from B&H lol they tape the box up with tape that says B&H camera and photo lol OP I hope someone didn't take it though. I have ordered thousands of dollars of stuff from B&H and have had it all delivered by UPS and never had a problem.

I'd be weary if someone posting a sample pics of their new 35L here, lol. I had lost alot of stuff from BH and all it took was my CC company reimbursed me but BH fought it so my CC company charged me again. I didn't had much of a choice but file it with BH and they got me my money back.

No I'm not a photographer, I just shoot with Canon DSLR with those lenses with red thingy...;)

When courier companies sub-contract everything, that's when service goes out the door! They only communicate with each other using their electronic devices and their call centres don't have a clue where the items are, as they are in a third world country. They just go by what their screen tells them! Why need the call centre, when you can go to your own computer and see it for yourself! Like everyone says, your best bet is to deal with the seller. They can put pressure through their rep. and while you are at it, ask them to claim the freight back.

Best bet is to always deal with the seller as they will have a method to deal with a lost item. Most times larger companies "self-insure" their packages and use the savings of not buying insurance from the shipper to cover any damage/losses they might have.

If you don't get any satisfaction from B&H (which I doubt) then have your credit card company go to bat for you.

I skipped ahead after reading the first page so excuse me if I am repeating anything...

I work for an online electronics retailer and there are plenty of instances of our customer's packaging disappearing like a fart in the wind. Sadly, it is a dishonest employee of the carrier most of the time. One of our ex-FedEx drivers was fired for stealing LED TVs after he scanned them from our warehouse. Sending packages via USPS has rendered similar results but the good news is these instances are a small percentage of total transactions. Also, a company that has a business account with UPS or FedEx will have account reps assigned by the carrier to deal directly with the retailer to solve these issues. If your lens does not show up Monday I would contact B&H ASAP, as they have the proper channels to get you a lens.

Was it an arrival scan or an out for delivery scan? Ups typically scans trucks not packages. If your package is supposed to be on a truck they scan then it will show up as them scanning it. If that package never made it onto the truck it will say they scanned your package, but your package was never there. Packages don't get scanned individually at every stop. My guess is that it's still in new York.

Wow, so much onformation! All I know is I don't have a lens and I'm so bummed. Anyway, I will check on that scan and determine if it was an arrival or out for delivery. Also, I used billmelater, lol so I guess I haven't been billed as yet. Shouldn't have a problem.

i HATE ups. they always leave packages outside even if it costs 1100$. i've had great experiences with FedEX though, and there must be a reason why even canon uses them. good luck to you OP.

If it makes you feel better, I found all of this out when I had problems with a shipment as well..

It took some digging to get that much information, but that was only after having to go through 5 different people.
