Hi
Im 13 and im really into photography and I started doing a lot of sports photography (Rugby and Skiing). I have started to get pretty good and I think I need a boost in FPS and weather sealing because it is pissing down rain or snow when I shoot. I was considering getting a 1d or 1d Mark ii. I already have one amazing lens the 70-200 f/4 L and would need to upgrade to IS to take full advantage of weather sealing. Whats your opinion on what I should get. My Budget is whatever I sell my t1i for and 3-400$+a bit more if I can scrounge around.

Gear: Canon 50D T1i Gripped(For sale)

T1i's go for around $500, so that plus $300 will get you a nice 1D2

But would a 1D2 Be as good as a 20D/30D with keeping my lens?

I would keep the non IS 70-200 F4, sell the T1i, and get a 1DMarkII, or MarkIIn. THe n is even better, and sometimes just a couple $ more..but worth it,imho.

OR, sell both the T1i and non IS lens, get a 1Dclassic, and a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM(non IS/OS).
With the faster lens, you probably wll not need the IS...just my two cents though..

That is what I would do..

Either that, or get a 40D. Which is more than enough camera for you, for a while atleast...
But, if sports is your ture passion...the 1D's are very hard to beat.killer IQ,and blazingly fast AF and bursts..

Maybe there is someone, or a cam shop, local to you that would let you try out either one of these options...that would really help me make the decision..

Good luck!!

If you just want a fast frame rate then you need the 1D body, although the 30D is still a bit faster at 5 fps. If your problem is weather sealing, then you need a 1D body. If you're worried about your lens being weather sealed, you also need the 70-200 f4 IS.

If you need to meet both requirements, then you need both items. Start saving.

And no, I wouldnt suggest a 20D/30D for replacing the T1i, but that is just my thoughts.
I would not go any 'smaller' than the 40D..which, I have seen them go for $475 which is downright stealing a camera that incredible...

Cheers!

Do you think I would miss the reach of the 1.6 on the 70-200?

He meant professional sport photographers. You might notice the difference, but you will quickly forget about it when you're shooting your new 1D.

I tried a 1D mark IV and I was wondering is the autofocus the same speed?
