Just remember the 2540 has flip locks instead of twist. Seems to be love it or hate it for each type, some love twist and hate flip locks, and vice-versa. Probably why they were smart and made a tripod with the flip locks as an option. :)

Hey everyone,
I'm in need of a tripod that's <$250.
I plan to use it for travel, so it has to be light weight.
I am looking for carbon fiber if possible, but the price goes up.
I was looking at the Benro Travel Angel series and I ran across this thread.

Horusbennu C-2540 Tripod w LX-3 Ballhead NEW

Would this be a good first tripod and head for me? And is this the reason most of you are purchasing this tripod?
The gear: sigma 10-20, t2i, 55-250mm etc

Should be fine for you, its very cheap for a CF tripod and head, and seems to have very nice features.

I keep following this forum waiting for a horror story but so far folks seem to like and be happy with their Horusbennu choice.

I thinking of the LX-5 with a C-2540 Carbon Fiber Tripod.

Decent enough for a 7D with a 70-200 IS MK2?

I was going to offer $190 like others had but went with $185. I'm sure they will counter at either $195 or $200. We know what these are selling for but it's always good to start out at a lower price as starting offer. :p

i'm afraid the auction listing is going to be over before seller counteroffers.
it has 10 hours left

This auction here? http://cgi.ebay.com …415647dab5#ht_18439wt_912 (external link)

I don't see an end time for it?

Oh I just saw the end time. It ends in about 10 hours. I went back, retracted my bid and made another offer at $195. Hopefully it will be accepted. Should be okay considering people have been paying around that price.

Just wondering, has anyone tried the C3540V? Seems to be a very interesting option, good height (most of the horusbennu stuff seems to be quite short...), good load capacity, twist locks, light weight...

I was wondering the same thing. But with the LX5 head it's about $150 more than the 2540/LX3 combo. Wonder if it's worth the money. Seems only slightly heavier and about the same length folded up so traveling with it should be about the same as the 2540.
