I am going to buy a 5d Mk2 and obviously i have the option to buy it with the 24-105, 24-70 (too expensive for me) or just the body only. I have only the 70-200 f/2.8 that works with the 5d mk2 so definitely I need a lens.

Except the 24-105 and the 24-70, what other lenses do you suggest me to buy (under Eur1000/$1400) please. I mainly shoot landscapes and portrait.

Thanks

We have got the 17-40 f4 which is ace but a bit wide at times - looking at a tamron 28-75 as a bit of a walk around.

Haven't got it yet mind so can't really comment on what its like first hand but gets good reviews.

Hope this is of some use

Cheers

Rob

I'd look at picking up a used 24-70. Or maybe one of the many 50mm offerings.

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.

Well there is the sigma 24-70 or tamron 28-75, which are also 2.8 and seems to be a decent replacement for the 24-70.

Tamron 28-75, Canon 35f/2, 50 f/1.8, 50 f/2.5 macro give great results in this range for reasonable prices...

If it can only be one lens the 24-105 is a great choice for the mkII and a damn fine value when purchased as a kit. If your happy with 17mm for your current landscape shots you will be happy at 24mm on the mkII. The 85mm range is great for portrait work.

To be economical and still attain excellent IQ i suggest the Tamron 28-75/f2.8 and the Sigma 50/f1.4

Then later on pick-up a used 70-200 f4 IS or save for the stellar 70-200/f2.8 MKII.

Just dont get carried away like i did and get the Zeiss 21ze for your landscapes on the 5D MKII ! :p

Regards, whatever your decision, ;)
