IMO i would definitely NOT purchase a step down ring period using the FF format. Julian will give you guys sound advice on this subject so shoot him a pm if he dont respond soon to your inquiries.

I had considered on getting the below but as of yet have not since i have received variable opinions from several different folks:

http://maxsaver.net …lar-Polarizer-Filter.aspx (external link)

http://maxsaver.net …izing-Digital-Filter.aspx (external link)

Seems to me if your shooting landscapes at f8.0 the above 82mm CPL`s should work fine without any vignetting even on the 5D MKII but IMO its best to ask direct users first and visually see some examples.

Regards, Ron ;)

It's mainly because I have a 77mm ND .8 that I want to use for film (also have a 77 cpl). I laid the filter on the lens last night (camera was sitting on it's back so the filter wouldn't move) and I shot directly at a light in my apartment. From the best that I could tell, there was no vignetting. I'll probably pull the trigger on a $15 step-up but I'll report back with results.

Geez! You got me all excited!:p

If i recall it was only around 6 months later when Canon released the 1Ds MKIII after the 1D MKIII and it has now been since the 4th quarter of 2009 since the 1D MKIV was announced. Personally i dont see any 1Ds MKIV but instead simply a 1D MKV being announced with a minimum of 35mp, Digic V, articulating screen, alarms, bells & whistles for a cool MSRP of 8.5K ! :p

Surely the 5D3 will be announced first ! The 5D MKII has been out since around August of 2008. Although the 5D MKII is still going strong. I continue to see them sell for 2K plus with over 15K shutter counts all the time. Seems like they have held there re-sell value better then any other body i can think of. They might continue to sell strong even after the 5D3 is announced with a possible price tag of close to 4K body only ! :p

Regards, Ron ;)

Well if the Mark V is announced I'll have to check it against the Mark III. I don't care, but do want a full frame body since I'm not shooting sports anymore.

Edit: it's either the above or I make the move to Medium Format around $10-15k spending limit, maybe Leica or Pentax ... From just q tad bit of research so far. OR a IDs Mark III.

Thank You,
joeandpuppies

Super excited! It's supposed to arrive tomorrow :)

Side note: I really need to start investing in ND filters. Should I go with screw in or should I go for a LEE type system?

Yup! Zeiss 21 with Lee Big Stopper. :) I've sold five large (24x36) copies of this image. No complaints from the buyers at all.
