Its not a bad lens, Was well used by press photographers for a long time...

Most would say the 28-300 is a better upgrade cause of the IS and that...

I had one. I miss having it and regret selling.

The 28-300mm was designed for the 1D series of camera...

1.3(28-300)= 36.something-390mm.

A pretty good replacement of the 35-350.

Well I should say that it is intended to replace the 35-350mm because we stopped using film(as much), lets face it there are a LOT more 1D cameras running around than 1Ds bodies. Hell, I've only seen 3 full frame cameras in my life, one 5D2 at beach, one in store and a professors 5Dc. Never even seen a 1Ds.

So that's my guess.

Pretty neat huh?

Kind of like the old FD 35-105 f3.5, if you wanted to get that kind of range in a zoom lens today for the 1.3 crop bodies, 24-105mm f4 gets you AWEFUL close. With about the same kind of all around decent performance.

The 35-350 is the first L lens I bought and I still have it and use.
Use it mostly for football and baseball.
