Well, the weather was great in the morning but once planes started flying it got overcast and shooting it was a PITA. Obviously the sky is overblown to get any detail out of the planes, but I think there were some good ones. I've only PP'd about 30% of the shots so far, see more on my flickr page.

This was my first time seeing Fifi, and she was a BEAUTY!
Enjoy, any C&C is more than welcome!

Very classy set of shots.

What a smorgasbord of historic aviation. Time to start saving for a trip to the states to take in some air shows/museums...

Nice prop blur! You've got a bit of "HDR Halo" around the nose in #5.

Great shots!! I think you did rather well for the sky conditions. I was dealing with the same. Sacrifice the sky for the plane. It was a great event and always do enjoy the show. Fifi was big and beautiful. Hopefully she'll return in the future!!

It really is a great WWII show, it is great to see a B-29. They also have the only flying Helldiver attend as well (I've gone the last 3 years and it's been there all 3).
I missed seeing the Lancaster and the P-40 this year, but I'll get over it :)

Thank you Frank! I was shooting with the 70-300L for everything but the statics, let me tell you that lens is a BEAUTY! I was pretty much able to get full prop blur when they were on the taxi way, dropping the ss to 1/30 and turning the IS back on and I think it turned out great (thats what I did for the Dauntless shot above).

Thanks Scott, I wish I it hadn't rained when it did, that seems to spoil the rhythm of the afternoon and my Dad and brother wanted to pack it in after that...

I just finished PP'ing the rest of the shots, if someone asks I can pop a few more on, otherwise feel free to check out my flickr page.

Thanks!

Nice shots considering the weather. Looks like my buddy Dan flying the corsair. I can see my camera that I sold him right on his dash. If anyone is down on Long Island they should check out the American Air Power Museum, any airplane buff will love it.

I was down there today. Looks like I should have been there yesterday. Didn't see the spitfire or any of the mustangs on the ground. Got to go inside of Fifi though, which was great. I was just about to post up my shots.

Love those shots! Do mind me asking what your settings where on the flying shots? Still trying to decide on a good airshow/nature lens. 28-300mm appeals to me for airshows to capture everything without switching lenses. Something to think about around here with dusty/windy conditions we always have.

Beautiful shots. Are the Mustang and the Spitfire replicas or the real thing? Fifi sure is a cool looking machine.

Cheers Tony

I believe they are the real deal. This was the first time I have seen these two Mustangs so I don't know much about them. The Spitfire I've seen quite a few times, and I'm pretty sure it's real. It's interesting hearing the Spit and the Mustang go by so you can hear the engines differences. This Spitfire has the Griffon engine, of course the Mustangs have the Merlin...

Nice selection of shots although it looks as if your FiFi is a tad purple...
