Good for you!:D;)Just shows that someone thought it was worth buying, or doesn't know what they should be paying for one.
I don't know the answer to that.
I got mine for $300.
It's paid for itself already with the fun I've had using it.

I want to get another CF card for my 1Dc, whats the max amount of space that would work with the camera? I've seen lots of cheap 8 gig CF cards on newegg.

The camera can only take 2gig but if you reformat a 4gig card on your PC as fat32 [I think] then it works fine ,if you try to use a 4gig card formated in the camera you can only use 2 gig of the card. Currently I am using a 4 gig card formated as fat32 and I can get nearly 800 RAW shots on the card, hope this helps.

Newegg also has plenty of nice 2gig cards for sale cheap. I have several Transcend cards that I flip between the 1D and the 10D if I need space.

You should note, on the 1D (or at least MY 1D) that the menu system will still see a ONE gig card installed. If you format the card in camera, it will report 1Gb. If you watch the shots remaining counter, you'll see that it's roughly double that of a 1Gb card though, so although the menu isn't aware that it's a 2Gb card, it works just fine.
