There was no filter at all. I guess is was just dark enough to do that and I think the lens was at F11 or something :). But I'm selling the lens right now because you can't attach filters - to bad, really. I like that lens :(

This one shot wide open; a little difficult task without the focus confirm.

Finally got a chance to use this lens for what I originally got it for, close up motorsports. Lacking a subject though, I set the SS to 1/160, the aperture to f/2.8, focused at about 4 feet, gave the camera to my dad and stepped in.

High ISO, motion blur, and missed focus are not conducive to great shots, however, so here they are in the only size that looks any good. ;) Take them for what they are.

All in all, I couldn't be happier. In situations like this, the lens does what I've been unable to do with anything else so far- separate the subject from the background. The super wide angle throws even close background clutter far into the distance, and the close proximity to the subject gives a really good sense of immersion.

Looks like I'm getting this for my 5D2, but before I do - what are some of the best pros and worst cons with this lens?

Pros
1. Unrivaled technical optical quality (sharpness, CA control).
2. Decent build quality.. good manual controls
2. Incredible value for the money.

Cons
1. Heavy distortion
2. Manual focus

Simple way to get AF confirm?

You can just glue a confirm chip on the EF mount. Even though it won't matter too much, there's a few reasons to do so:

- F-EF adapter is a lot more expensive
- Any adapter will decrease IQ, even if it's ever so slightly
- The adapter will put the 1mm further away from the sensor than when getting an EF mount
- Unless the adapter is REALLY snug, it gets kinda wobbly and doesn't work barely as good as the normal EF mount lens. (The 25€ F-EF adapter I have is quite wobbly anyway. I don't trust it half as much as my 'normal' lenses.

My advice:
Just buy a separate AF confirm chip and slap that on.
