Which Lens next ?

I've been thinking about getting IS for low light. And I like primes. 50mm is almost too zoomed in, but a 85 F1.4 seems nice for the Bokeh ! I do not have unlimited budget. My cameras are APS-C.

Current Lens:
Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD (might or might not sell for 17-40L, but its F/2.8, and cover a good range)
Canon 50mm F/1.8 II

Here's the list:
Canon 17-40 F/4L USM (cheapest of the L - no IS, kind of short)
Canon 24-105 F/4L IS USM (nice range + IS)
Canon 135L F/2.0 (F2 + 135mm - but no IS, good bokeh!)
Sigma 85mm F/1.4 EX DG HSM (1.4 + 85mm for bokeh!)

What Do I photography ? : Cars, Food, Street Photography (inc. portrait, animals etc.)

135L, classic portrait lens.

While I couldn't recommend the 135L more, for a crop camera I think you would be better of with an 85mm lens, whichever one suits your budget.

Love my 135L on my 5D, but it is a little long for 40D. I'd suggest 85mm. The Canon non-L version is f/1.8 and can be bought used for around $350 - $400. There are currently 3 or 4 available at POTN Forum: Classifieds: Sell

i'd think something like a sigma 30mm f1.4 would make more sense than a 135L...you say the 50mm is too 'zoomed' in yet you're looking at much longer primes...

also if you want IS for low light shooting why not look at one of the 17-5X f2.8 stabilized lenses...either the canon or sigma versions should be good...way more of a better choice than a 17-40L on a crop in my mind

If you are looking for a low lens light as you say, the f/4 lenses are out. If 50 is too long, stay less than 50.

The F4 are out even if they have IS ? (which is now 3 or 4 fstop)

the 135L might be hard to use, since it's not stabilized, but it seems a very good lens..

The 85mm have the same problem, altho it's less zoomed in.

The 24-105L do have IS, but it's F/4 and a little zoomed-in for a crop. (24mm). But does have a nice range.

I really like the 50mm. It isolate things very well and the F/1.8 is good for bokeh. I don't want to get a 50mm 1.4, I already have the 1.8 II. It's cheap, but it's still F/1.8 and 50mm. That's why I'm looking at something else.

85mm and 135mm: Seems a too zoomed for street photography, but looks good for portraits, food(not macro..), etc.

24-105L: F/4, IS, Not Wide but better than 50mm, not a prime.
