HI, All,

I'm so confused. I would like to get some GND filters. I understand that Lee is great, quality-wise but I'm really confused as to what I would need to purchase. It would be for use on my 7D with mostly 24-105, and some use on the 10-22 and tamron 70-300. The foundation kit is unavailable at the moment.

What to do?

Thanks!

Eric

Lee kits are almost always out of stock. You need the holder, some filters, and the screw in adapters for your lenses.

If I can't purchase the foundation kit, what can I purchase instead?

Just a small correction, you want the 77MM WA [Wide Angle Ring] the non WA ring will vignette on your 10-22 and even possibly the low end of the 24-105.

The foundation kits are out there. You can also try to get them under the Century Optics brand. I had to purchase from the UK [Studio Kit Direct] to get mine.

You can purchase the foundation kit, it'll just take some time to deliver. It's worth the wait though.

Thanks. Leaving for a trip to Israel in a couple of weeks. Don't know if I'll have it by then. There seems to be a big price difference. $75 and up. There's a used one on ebay for $150. The Century Optics brand is $180 on Amazon w/ a regular 77mm adapter.

I have the cokin z pro. it holds all of the 4x6 filters. I like mine. no gripes. it was easier to find at the time. i actually got it used on this forum somewhere.

Nobody can buy a Foundation Kit instantly atm... the wait will be well worth it. If you're not accustomed to using GNDs I don't think you'll want to learn how to do it ON the vacation.

So the Century Optics brand is the same thing, just different name?

There have been a few recent posts where the CO gear actually has a LEE stamp on the kit itself or some filters that shipped actually came in Lee packaging.

thanks for the info, too bad the one I found does not have the correct 77mm ring with it... otherwise I would buy it.
